Born in Quebec, Dorris Heffron graduated in literature and philosophy from Queen’s University in Canada. While teaching for Oxford University, she wrote three novels acclaimed internationally as pioneers in the genre of young adult fiction. Returning to Canada, she wrote the popular adult novel, A Shark in the House. Her new novel, City Wolves , tells the story of Canada’s first woman veterinarian, the ancient story of how wolves became sled dogs and how they all end up in Klondike gold rush of the 1890s.
Dorris is previous Chair of The Writers’ Union of Canada (June 2013-14). She lives at Little Creek Wolf Range, north of Toronto.
